Hello! We just got back from London and in addition to jet lag, I got a thousand and three things to settle first! But I also got anxiety disorder about not updating my blog so let this be a short post!

We arrived home yesterday evening and first thing this morning we struggled out of bed to see Fighter. Fatty had only two hours of sleep so I said he could just rest and I’d go to the doctor alone.

Fatty: No cannot. Later Fighter say “where’s Daddy why he not here to see me!”

Hahahahha.

Anyway, this time was like a full scan to check on all the major body parts – whether heart has a hole (no hole!), cleft palate, etc.

Everything accounted for and normal, good job Fighter!

Side profile of baby.

HIS NOSE DAMN SHARP RIGHT! Super pleased about this cos I forever have crushes on boys with sharp nice noses one wtf Fighter got better chance of being handsome now hahahaha.

The doctor said, “He has a very sharp nose!” (turns around to peer at Fatty then turns back to me. “Guess he got his mother’s nose.”

F Fatty’s life hahahahaha. In his defense I think his nose is quite ok la quite straight also! Maybe his glasses are blocking it wtf.

Doctor also pointed out the penis and scrotum, confirming that he is indeed a boy.

(Don’t think baby will like me much when he’s grown up and realized I posted a picture of his penis online wtf)

At first I couldn’t see it. The doctor said, “how can you not see? It’s so obvious!”

I peered at the top left side of the screen (circled in red for your convenience) and said “WAH YOU’RE RIGHT IT’S HUGE”

Doctor said, “Uhh actually it’s the one on the bottom right (arrow pointing). The penis is between the scrotum on both sides.”

“Oh.”

Thanks for making Mommy fat Fighter! Hahaha.

Oh yea, while I was in London/Paris I was quite emo because my face is now noticeably rounder! I think partly because I’ve stopped Botoxing my jaw (due to pregnancy) and partly because I gained weight la wtf.

I also think my nose is bigger (because according to old wives’ tales, if you’re carrying a boy your nose gets bigger wtf) but that could just be psychological.

Anyway since I cannot diet or Botox or anything to make my face smaller, I made an appointment with Hikky to do something to my hair to so I look less chubby.

The result!

Extensions to cover my cheeks. Extended my pink under-highlights too. Very surreal that I went from a bob cut to this huh.

For those who may be curious, the extensions are fixed on with a special tape, not metal clips, braiding or glue. 76style is the only salon I know of in Malaysia who has this type of extensions which are lighter and less damaging to your hair. ^^

My extensions usually last for 2-3 months but it depends on your hair care and regrowth as well.

For pricing and appointments, contact 76Style and Hikky (she’s at the Plaza Mont Kiara branch)!

Haro!

This the followup post to my Olay Regenerist Micro-sculpting Cream Moisturizer review the other day.

So I went to the Olay Beauty Myth Workshop held with Cleo magazine and its readers! Held at KL Hilton and I was quite impressed by how nicely it was done!

First part of the morning was spent on a skin course by Olay! The Olay rep, Yvonne, went into the the science of skin – moisture, elasticity, youth etc.

Hate seeing this kind of graph wtf. Especially when I’m on the wrong side of 20 wtf.

Then went into the basics of skin care and how skin moisturizers work for your skin.

Quite a few workshop attendees raised questions on skin myths and correct skin care techniques which was also quite interesting!

Like did you know that when you apply your skincare, you’re supposed to gently massage until it’s all absorbed in your skin?

I’m guilty of rushing every morning to apply all the steps in my skincare routine because I’m always running late! I usually don’t wait until one layer’s absorbed before I apply the next. Or even worse I purposely turn on the aircon to let my moisturizer dry faster WTF.

According to the Olay people, this is a total waste of nice expensive moisturizer cos it doesn’t do your skin any use when it’s evaporated. T_T

So if you have to do one thing in the morning, it’s give yourself enough time to massage your skin gently until all the product has absorbed in before going to the next step.

Then Olay team turned into myth busters for the day and ran a couple of experiments for us…

This is the absorption test. One beauty myth is only expensice creams can penetrate and get absorbed quicker.

They compared the absorption of Olay and a Brand X cream into layers of thin cloth.

Of course Olay absorbed more into more layers hehe. This is just a simulation of course, cloth is not skin, but you can always try the product for yourself and see how you like it. ^^

Next they did the water dispersion test which I blogged about in my previous post.

Myth is that the more expensive the skin care, the better it is and more easily dispersed by water.

Proven that Olay disperses far better in water.

The next segment was on healthy eating and exercise.

None of which I do very regularly. -_- Although now I’ve been partaking in exercise classes specially for pregnant women! The speaker would be proud of me wtf.

Btw, did you know a plate of nasi briyani gives you 880 calories? For women with sedentary lifestyles, that’s half your calorie needs for the day wtf.

To get rid of 880 calories, you need to do 1/2 hour of badminton wtf.

Then my turn to speak! *nervous

I knew I had a guest spot to speak on the Olay Regenerist and my personal opinion using it but still! To a room of 30-40 people! Hadn’t done that for a while.

But not too bad la I didn’t have to prepare anything, it was just basically what I felt about the product. Review can be found here.

Hahaha dunno why I so happy wtf. Maybe very encouraged cos I saw the audience listening intently and nodding. ^^

With the pretty ladies from Olay!

Thank you for giving me a chance to be guest speaker!

For more info on Olay, go to their Facebook page. You may get the Olay Regenerist Micro-sculpting Cream Moisturizer at all major supermarket or pharmacies and see for yourself!

P/S: I was wearing turquoise shift dress from Foruchizu, necklace from Emoda.

The best part of my job is getting to review new beauty products as it comes out I think.

Today’s product is the Origins GinZing moisturizer!

Origins invited me, Jane and Redmummy for a briefing to introduce us to their GinZing range. There’s also a GinZing eye cream to match with the moisturizer actually.

The first time I’d heard of Origins was when I was in the US walking around Macy’s wtf. I never stopped to take a closer look but my impression was a very organic skincare brand.

I was right! I didn’t know Origins before that because it was only a few years later that Origins hit Malaysian shores. But it’s stayed true to its philosophy of organic, environmentally friendly products. Apparently even their packaging is made from recycled material and most of them can be recycled again.

The GinZing moisturizer contains three main ingredients – ginseng for energy (looks like I missed out the ginseng in this picture dang), chestnut seeds for smoothing and caffeine to restore radiance.

We took a sniff and smelled fresh orange! Turned out there’s also citrus oils in it – grapefruit oil for the smell and anti-irritancy benefits, spearmint oil for energy and lemon oil to dispel fatigue (ie wake you up wtf) and increase concentration.

Caffeine is found to be a powerful anti-irritant so Origins extracted it and put it in a jar. Anti-irritation means it will be soothing for your skin. ^^

GinZing pyramid! Love the citrus smell I kept sniffing it hahaha.

So I ghot my very own jar of GinZing to take home and try.

It’s a gel moisturizer so it’s very light and cool!

Goes on very smoothly. It’s very lightweight so it’s suitable for humid Malaysian weather, yet moisturizing.

(so moisturizing that when I accidentally spilt some and wiped it on my leg to not waste it, my leg is still very soft after a whole day! Usually my leg skin damn dry and flaky one hahaha)

Smooth and easy to apply too so it’s good for those people who go out late nights clubbing then stumble in to class/opis next morning wtf. Since the ingredients in it are meant to revive tired skin (and people), it should be good for those people too and those with crazy hectic lives and for only RM100 it’s such an affordable addiction! ^^

New addiction! Kinda regret never giving Origins a try until now haha.

And guess what I’m giving away GinZing Energy-boosting moisturizer to 5 readers!

All you have to do is reply in the comments (with your email address) and answer this question:

GinZing is actually very affordable for a premium skincare product, so what are your affordable addictions? (basically beauty/skin products, whether purchased or home remedies, that you cannot live without)

I’ll pick the most interesting 5 and each one will win a jar of GinZing moisturizer each! (Winners must be in Malaysia ah if not how to pass you the thing wtf)

By the time you’re reading this I’ll be London for a babymoon with Fatty! Our last chance before I get trapped at home forever with the baby.

In the weeks running up to the election, I was predictably glued to Twitter and Facebook for political updates.

And the time I miss being connected to social media the most is obviously when I’m overseas. D: D:

So this is good news from Maxis and Hotlink!

Wanna tweet for free 24/7?

For Maxis and Hotlink users only, access to Twitter is free through all web browsers on your phone, means not through your usual Twitter app, but by going to mobile.twitter.com!

Some telcos also have this free Twitter access, but usually it’s only for a limited number of hours a day, and accessed by certain browsers only! But for Maxis/Hotlink this is for 24/7 ^^

Access is free until 15 July, 2013. No subscription needed.

For more info go to Hotlink Freezone

Today was supposed to have been a good day.

Where we were supposed to go to the doctor, have my monthly scan, and maybe find out Fighter’s sex.

Fighter is a boy!

For some reason we’d already thought Fighter would be a boy; I had a strong feeling he would be! Maybe because I actually really wanted our first child to be a boy (so he can take care of his sister next time wtf) and I projected haha.

During our last visit, the doctor already suspected it but now it’s confirmed! Saw his penis and everything wtf.

So it should have been a fantastic day. But instead from morning to night we’ve been inundated with horrible horrible reports of the latest efforts from the ruling coalition to cheat themselves back into power.

The worst of it is the news (and photo evidence) of orders from the PM’s department to fly foreign workers and immigrants to selected areas to vote, basically drown out our votes to win the seats. Here’s the report and evidence.

When you think it cannot get any worse, here’s another punch in the gut wtf.

My father in law forwarded this letter. Mind you, this could be hearsay but I think we’ve all seen enough pictures and videos of bribery and coercion happening especially in Penang this past week to know it’s most likely true.

Dear Penang Lang,

I am a Malaysian who was born in Penang, who moved to Selangor to make a
living . I am writing this because I love Malaysia, and I love Penang even more.
And I love and respect Lim Guan Eng not because he is good looking, BUT
because He gives us HOPE, he gives us back what we have lost in the last 50
over years. He let us see what is not possible in the last 50 years is possible now
under his short 5 years rule.

I heard about a disturbing news from a family member from Penang this
morning about Lim Guan Eng constituency, Ayer Puteh is under severe attack. A
businessman/developer Goh Choon Lye together with a few are throwing money
to people in that area. He has openly announced today that EVERYONE gets
RM100/per person; resident of Ayer Puteh gets RM500/per person , and if you
unseat LGE , everyone will get rm1500.00. In addition, he will build some 2200
units of value of RM75000/-, 50% cheaper than market price for Ayer Puteh.

For those Ayer Puteh residents who are thinking of receiving the RM1500/- and
RM 75000/- per unit, please ask yourself the following question:

1. is Goh choon lye and others business men?
2. Will a businessman do a loosing money business?
3. Will you think there is always a CATCH if someone selling you something
cheap, and below cost? What is the CATCH? Like Chinese saying : never
will there be such a big FROG jumping around” After all these goodies,
who will benefit more, you or Goh Choon Lye? THINK HARDER AND FAR.
4. Do you think your children’ future, your children’ children future worth
only rm75000.00?
5. if you have taken 75000.00 house, you may probably make a 100k profit,
but do you realize you will end up paying higher petro price, higher toll,
higher car price, higher education etc , you end up paying back more and
more to the people who gave you money now..
6. will 2200 units help everyone in Ayer Putih? And whole Penang? Your
future?

The future of Penang is in your hand, please do not sell it over a mere
goodies . You are betting on your children and grandchildren’s future.
Please do not give it away simply. Do not let the $$$ blind your conscious.

If Goh Choon Lye is a genuine philanthropist, he would have done it long
ago and all the while, WHY ONLY NOW? WHY ONLY IN AYER PUTIH?
WHY DOSE HE WANT LIM GUAN ENG TO LOOSE? HASN’T LIM GUAN ENG
PROVEN HIMSELF OF THE GOOD GOVENANCE?
For a businessman like him, he must have known that he will have a
BIGGER gain in future to give a little money now. Please do not be a FOOL
to enrich yourself temporary now, and to have the future of the mass in
Penang suffer. Your action now will only make the cronies richer and
more powerful.

Ask yourself why are all these money and goodies only given NOW, why
not the last 50 years?

Do the right thing for the future of your next and next generation.

Written by
Mona
A Penang lang, my future is in your hand

Read it and weep wtf. I already have.

Haven’t done a Funny Fat Her story in ages! Here’s one for you Fat Her fans out there wtf.

Fatty was away last week for a conference and Mummy Ooi was away in Penang so I went back to my parents’ house to spend some quality time with Fat Her.

(digression: aircon in my room was broken fml so I had to sleep on the couch *sad)

Nothing good happens when you leave me and Fat Her alone together wtf.

Incident 1

Fat Her and I were leaving the house in the morning at the same time. Our driveway only has room for two cars and Mummy Ooi’s and my car were parked in the driveway while Fat Her parked outside the gate.

So Fat Her had to move his car out first before I could back out of the driveway. I backed out and Fat Her waved to me from inside his car and used the remote key to close the gate.

I wound down my window, beckoned furiously at Fat Her and bellowed, “OI DADDY YOU DIDN’T CLOSE THE FRONT DOOR!!”

Fat Her said, “OH ISIT!? Okay okay I’ll go close it.”

As I drove off, I saw in my rearview mirror, Fat Her reopening the gate and going back in to the house.

Five minutes later I got a text.

HAHAHAHAHAHAH

(the other Libran is Fighter. Fatty will have his hands full wtf)

Incident 2

The next morning, Fat Her and I again left the house at the same time. I got out to the main road and the traffic light and was coasting to a stop when my phone rang. It was Fat Her.

Fat Her: “eh I can’t remember if I’ve locked the gate. Can you drive back and check?”

Me: “I didn’t see la! But anyway I’ve left already la cannot turn back!” *lazy

Fat Her: “Can la you’re right behind me.”

And sure enough, when I looked up, it was Fat Her’s car in front of me wtf. So I had to grumpily turn back home to check on the gate.

The gate was locked wtf.

Incident 3

At night, Fat Her and I thought we’d catch a ceramah that was happening near our house.

(in the run up to our elections in Malaysia, political parties running for seats will have ceramahs or lectures/dialogues nearly every night for the public to hear out their policies and promises so we can decide who to vote for)

Fat Her insisted I don’t carry a bag and just carry my phone and IC in my pocket. So off we went to the neighborhood mall for dinner first before the ceramah.

The mall is literally 5 minutes away. And Fat Her still managed to overshoot it and go to the mall next door wtf. So we had to make a big detour to get back to the first mall.

When we got into the mall parking, Fat Her let out a scream. He forgot to bring his wallet WTF.

Ask me not to bring wallet he ownself also didn’t bring!!!!!!!!!

Then he started trembling all over at the thought of not being able to pay the parking fee and having to walk back home to get his wallet wtf. I insisted they’d let us out for free because we were in there for less than 15 minutes but he was still all trembly as we drove up to the exit.

Of course they let us go la wtf.

But I was damn angry hahahahah because he already took a wrong turn, wasting our time, and I was hungry and we had to drive back home to get his wallet again! We ended up being like an hour late for the ceramah wtf.

But then halfway through scolding him I remembered earlier that day I took a wrong turn going back to our house too (two minutes away from the house) WTF.

We’re a bad influence on each other.

(just realized we’re like ten years past seventeen ಠ_ಠ)

This shoot was done I think like two months in to my pregnancy so I was smack in the middle of horrible fatigue, extreme hunger and slight nausea haha. Suffered like shit at times I felt like I would pass out from tiredness but nobody knew so I couldn’t say anything!

Some more I was very bloated. When I saw the outfit they planned for me I was like “har really? Horizontal stripes?” Lolol. Then whole day have to suck tummy in.

With the Seventeen team!

OK no it’s not really hahaha.

This is like the 2nd or 3rd picture of him I think. I chose it cos I think he looks quite handsome here wtf.

Hahahah no la I imagine I can see his face like that! And his little <del>paws</del> hands!

Fighter’s first appearance on Fourfeetnine!

The first time we went to the doctor (to really ascertain the pregnancy test was right) and did the scan (where the device goes up my hooha wtf) and we saw this little bubble pulsating in the middle of the screen, Fatty’s head snapped back to look at me in wonderment. And I stared back at him agog.

That was really when it hit us that there was a life inside me! Fatty went into a state of happy shock wtf and took photo after photo of the screen hahaha.

And I have to be honest here. My first thought looking at the screen was omg I have something inside me! Like how some animals have a parasite!

Obviously I have gotten over that hahahaha but it was so weird to conceive of the fact that my body was housing another being.

And at five weeks, the doctor detected a heartbeat! I’ve always been pro-choice but seeing that rapid heartbeat, I understood why some people are pro-life. :/

Anyway!

Fighter, we haven’t met you yet but we love you already. Don’t let us down I tell you wtf.

P/S: We refer to Fighter in the male pronoun but actually we don’t know its sex yet hahaha.

So it’s much better now but I’ve been suffering from a little self esteem dive due to being pregnant. T_____T

First, I didn’t have any sign of a bump for the longest time, but I did notice my waist thickening! D:

This wreaked havoc on my fashion style wtf. Mostly because all my clothes in recent months were all cropped tops and high waisted pants/skirts. -_-

To my horror, I found myself being unable to zip or button up my bottoms. D:

I thought okay fine I’d go look for shorts with elastic waistbands or loose dresses and headed to H&M.

Five years ago, everything came in babydoll waistlines! But maddeningly the trend in Malaysia now is all cinched waist dresses fml. Or high waisted pants. Or cropped tops.

I tried on like ten dresses and none of them looked good!!! Since they were all waisted dresses, I tried on one size bigger than normal but everything became too long for me and I looked more dwarflike than usual.

Got fed up and reverted to bigger looking pieces in my usual size, and either I couldn’t fit into them (T___________T) or I could fit but probably wouldn’t in a couple of months wtf.

I was so distraught! I felt fat and ungainly and even wished I hadn’t cut my hair so I could hide some fat behind it WTF. I also thought of getting extensions but I thought Hikky might kill me lolol.

I drove home and cried WTF.

Crazy lo hahahaha. While I was crying, my rational mind knew it was a very small thing. But I felt sooooooooooo sad about it.

After I finished crying I felt very ridiculous hahaha. Fatty meanwhile kept patting my hair and saying “you’re still cute… not fat at all… still very pretty….”

Hahahahaha <3

My current weight sigh. 3 kg up so far from my usual, which I know is really not a lot (my doctor told me I could gain up to 18kg *faints) but while I’ve more or less come to terms with it, it still affected me to see the numbers increase on the scale.

(In fact, I was so sensitive about it that when someone joked on Twitter that from now on it’d be Fatty and Fatty, not Shorty and Fatty anymore that I snapped at her and got all huffy about it, when before I’d laugh it off.)

I posted it on Instagram and got people telling me I should be happy I’m gaining weight because my baby is growing. I guess they meant well but it’s not something I want to hear la wtf because it came off sounding insensitive and preachy.

You think I’m not happy about my baby meh! Of course I am or else I wouldn’t have talked so much about it. But I can be happy about the baby AND upset at the same time that my body and self perception are changing. These two aren’t mutually exclusive and doesn’t make me a shitty person what.

I don’t think anyone who hasn’t been pregnant before will understand any of this anyway so I’d rather you don’t say anything if you’re not a mommy. Or if you really want to say something, please couch it in the gentlest, politest terms possible lol.

*end of hormonal rant

Anyway I made do by leaving buttons and zippers undone but it came to a point where that was becoming ridiculous. Unbuttoned flies invariably stick out and it becomes damn obvious that you forgot to zip your fly. I was also running out of tops long enough to cover the tops of my pants.

So the best Fatty in the world outlined a budget and told me to go shopping. I’ve never gotten a free license like that before lo hahahaha.

managed to find quite a few things! Mostly because this time I went into Zara and Miss Selfridge which I rarely do cos… their things are expensive la wtf. But their designs somehow a lot of flowy airy stuff very suitable for my needs now! So buy.

Thank you best Fatty ever!

And I scoured Foruchizu stock and managed to find a number of pieces suitable for big tummy times!

Sweetheart lace one piece! Victorian style and empire waistline! For me dress but I guess taller people have to wear something underneath haha.

Moon stone top and checkered pants! The pants are zippered but extremely stretchy so it fits and is super comfy at the waist. Top is already available here but pants will only be launched next week onwards! Then… I also realized the key to looking better during pregnancy is accessorizing and small details!

Actually Whattoexpect.com already said it la but I didn’t heed their advice hahaha. It’s true though that when we have less to play around with for clothes, what makes an outfit is the accessories and hair and makeup! All put together then you can still look very well groomed even if your outfit is shit wtf.

Kiss earrings are also Foruchizu haha.

Every Malaysian has been following the development of our politics leading up to election lah no doubt.

Fatty and I are no different except I am damn hormonal now and my blood pressure skyrockets every time I read yet another piece of news reporting the ridiculousness (and disgustingness) of the situation we’re in.

(shit later kena diagnosed with preeclampsia fml)

Anyway the latest developments today include the attempted sabotage of DAP’s plans to compete in the elections by the Registrar of Societies and the attempt by authorities to prevent Malaysians residing in Singapore coming home to vote by saying Malaysians coming home to vote on May 5 can only cross in a Malaysian-registered vehicle (WTF?)

This is just blatant abuse of our human and constitutional rights.

Fatty asked me just now: “How much would it take to buy your vote?”

Me: “Nothing. It’s like Mastercard. Priceless.”

Fatty: “One million?”

Me: “No.” *keeps eating chicken rice

Fatty: “100 million?”

Me: “No! It’s not about the money. It’s that it would make me the same as Hee Yit Foong.”

Fatty: “If you had 100 million, you could take it and donate it to whichever political party you wanted.”

Me: “That’s like helping kill someone then trying to compensate by paying off his family!”

Normally I already get damn angry over all these cheating and scummy tricks but now I think I’m even more upset, not only cos of the hormones but cos I keep thinking about Fighter who’s gonna be here by the end of the year.

Malaysia is nothing like Myanmar or Egypt – we are relatively very stable and peaceful, but my heart damn pain when I think of all the money and resources being wasted/hoarded by corrupt figures of authority. Surely Fighter deserves to be born in a country with a better government, a fairer political and social environment, and guaranteed human and constitutional rights?

Fatty asked: “Do you wish we moved to the Bay Area instead? So Fighter can grow up there?”

(at one point we briefly considered moving to San Fran because we loved it there ahaha)

Me: “No. He has to grow up here because he’s Malaysian first. If he wants he can pick somewhere else to move to when he grows up.”
