Undilah Audrey wtf

Sigh I really don’t want to do this cos my products all damn pariah ok wtf but Tze tagged me so here I am.

Skin Care
What facial cleanser do you use?

Dove Gentle Exfoliating Foaming Facial Cleanser. You know why? Cos SOMEONE stole my cleanser, toner and moisturiser on the flight back from Vancouver! I checked in a backpack that Mrs Luo gave me (cos I had too much shit) and my cosmetics were all in it. And then when I came home they were missing T_T So I had to run out to Target wtf to replace them. Like Angela says, only the lamest things happen to me, and I really think this tops the list.

What moisturizer do you use?

Bought to replace my Kanebo Whitening dunno what. Okay only la, I don’t think it’s moisturizing enough for me. Either that or we leave our heater on far too long wtf.

How many times a day do you wash your face?
Twice! I am damn anal about this and will never wash more or less. You’re not supposed to okay! Even if you’re in humid Malaysia or a the Gobi desert wtf you should only wash your face TWICE a day.

Do you use eye makeup remover?
What nonsense is this of course! It’s a sin to leave your makeup on mmmkay.

Why did they not ask about sunblock! Sunblock is essential! I write myself.

What sunblock do you use?

Shiseido Anessa Perfect Smooth Sunblock. SPF 50++ okay I swear their biggest customer is Mrs Dracula wtf. Or Japanese women. But you should never go anywhere without putting on sunblock! Even if you’re staying at home, sunblock is a must okay do you know how damaging the sun is.

What mascara do you use?

Loreal Double Extension and Lancome Hypnose both in black. But Loreal kicks Hypnose’s ass okay the first time I used Hypnose it was Mascara God wtf, but the next time I bought it again I felt like the quality worsened. Plus I love mascaras that come with the strenghtening volumising white base.

I don’t use perfumes! Cos I told you la I already smell good naturally wtf. I think I always smell like my body wash la wtf. Also, I have almost no sense of smell (that’s why I’m made to do trash T_T) so perfumes and colognes are wasted on me.

Do you always have to smell good?
I have Audrey smell ok. Audrey Smell = orange soap smell + Body Shop Satsuma Body Butter. Or trash smell right after I do trash T_____________________T

—————————

Two days ago, I sat in Lipman’s office for our weekly meeting about my independent study.

This semester, I chose to write about Ketuanan Melayu.

He asked me how my research was going.

I started to tell him about how I had read all these articles written in Malay online, both in personal blogs, and Utusan Melayu archives.

But I found myself unable to go on, because if I opened my mouth again, the hard lump that was in my throat would dissolve and pour out as tears.

I’m not sure why I was so affected reading those Malay articles. And I didn’t realize how upset I was until I went to tell Lipman about them.

Those articles were mostly ridiculous little opinion pieces about why the writers thought Malays were the true owners of Malaysia. Because Malays were here first. Because Malacca had been a thriving and prosperous port under Malay rule, and not Chinese or Indian.

Granted, the Malays were here before the Chinese and Indians. But we’re here now. I am the 5th generation of a man from Fujian who came to Malaya in the mid 1800s. Malaysia is all most of us know and love, but just because of who we are, restrictions are imposed upon us.

I know that if you think about the Israelis and the Palestines, or the Serbs and Croatians, we are comparably very lucky in Malaysia.

We are not shot upon recognition of our ethnicity, neither are we denied basic needs of human survival.

But what we are denied is the chance to stand as an equal individual and citizen in our country. We are denied the chance to be proud of Malaysia, the chance to say that my country loves me as much as I love her.

Rationally or not, reasonably or not, cruelly or not, I think that racism will always exist in all of us, deep down, whether we want to or not. I think that to be human is to have that instinct of “us” against “the other” because isn’t that what survival is based on?

I am not blaming any particular person for this, because whatever antagonism a Malay might feel towards a Chinese, isn’t it possible that the Chinese might feel the same to his Malay counterpart? I am very sure that if the roles were reversed, the Chinese would do the same thing; I highly doubt we are very much better.

And so I sat in Lipman’s office with my lips pressed tightly together, just listening to him talk about ethnic nationalism. He must have noticed something because he paused before saying “Audrey, I’m sorry.”

The only way to change things is to vote. You have no idea how much I want to vote, but cannot.

So if you can, please go out on Voting Day and place your vote. This is one of your most important rights as a citizen so please don’t waste it.

***Apologies if this offends anyone. This is merely an opinion piece of an idealistic ignorant girl.

I am a malay (ya.so obvious can die. where got chinese girl named fareeza.) and i do feel that it is unfair how i get special treatment when it comes to job opportunities/education/ etc and every time i say something about it to my other malay friends or my family members i always get shut down “shut up lah! if it wasnt this way you wouldnt be where you are today”. like damn sakit hati right? hmph. i would vote too, only im underage. :(. btw ah. i don’t know anyone who’s 4’9. damn kagum. i’m 5’8. haha. ok finish. bye.

  • i believe what malaysia needs are individuals like you ….being willing to speak up for the ideals u hold dear is so important! how can u call yourself ignorant i think u have a great sense of social justice…u’re my favourite blogger in the whole world, lol… … for some reason this reminds me of the movie PERSEPOLIS which has nth to to do with ethnicity but maybe it’s the alienation of people from their government and yet the intense love they have for their country….yar so i’m gonna do an ad here everyone should watch PERSEPOLIS it’s such a great movie

aud: am i really ur favorite blogger *big shiny eyes your comment is my favorite comment ever hahaha. what movie is tht? ive never heard of it

  • Malays aren’t the first people to arrive in Malaysia. There are already people living in Malaysia, the orang asli. The Malays no doubt started a gov back then.

aud: yea that’s what some people are saying. but it’s still true that they were here before the non-Bumiputras, although that doesn’t make the ketuanan concept right

  • With your permission, I’d like to link the last part of your post to my blog. I think that’s the most heartfelt thing I have read in a long time. It wasn’t angry or gungho — which can be a real turn off — but it made an impact more lasting that any other “firey” post can.

So, are you going to change the topic now? Just curious.

aud: thank u:) sure u can link my post. what topic do u mean?

  • i will definitely vote.. voting for a better malaysia

aud: ya vote on my behalf!

  • hello audrey, welcome to singapore even though i really hate our fucking taxes. one thing about malaysia which i ahem don’t quite like is the racism. it’s really quite obvious even when i visit as a tourist. i dont know is it they don’t like singaporeans or what la, but they always give me looks of disdain when i don’t understand whatever they spoke in malay. unfair sia, the only malay i know is my national anthem okay why like that.

    aud: hahaha majulah singapura wtf

aud: thank u! im glad it made u comment 😛

  • I liked your post! Ya bah, our sejarah books so sad. But then, in Sabah you don’t really feel the ‘lines’ between Chinese and Malay and Kadazan and Indian blah blah. All mixed together dy. We just get the ‘tempias’ from the West. :p but anyway, will be voting for a better future on the 8th! haha!

aud: thank u! what’s tempias? oh must be nice in sabah ive never been! maybe its just on the peninsula that its like that:(

  • hey, first time commenting after reading all your blogs from 1st to the current.

aud: ya haha the questions damn long winded! no the sunblock isnt oily at all, that’s why i like it. u apply it and when it dries it turns into a matte finish. so u can use it as a powder, sort of. why u never register! next election too late already T_T

  • I meant to ask: are you going to change the topic of your independent study now? From ketuanan melayu to something else?

aud: haha just because i cried? honestly i was having a lot of problems with it because i was looking at it from a biased point of view. its very important for me to look at it neutrally tho because it wouldnt be academic otherwise. im still sticking with this topic

  • I like your take on the current situation in Malaysia.. Whatever the past may be, we need change to be able to advance into the future.. what will 4th, 5th, 6th.. heck even 7th generation ‘immigrants’ have to call their homeland if it is constantly drummed into them that the place they call home is not really home even though it says so on their passports? The government’s idea that only civil servants and students abroad can vote is totally stupid.. they would like to alienate the rest of the elligible working population overseas that probably would like to contribute their 2 cents worth to making Malaysia a more politically balanced country it currently isnt.

aud: really? i didnt know that. the government only allows students and civil servants overseas to vote?? since when??

  • hello ! have been reading ur blog quite some time. I must say ur curls are reallly nice! btw, have u heard of this babyliss hair curler? im using it currently, but somehow, it doesnt realy produce good curls! damn sad wei.. ooh ya, do u like apply anything to ur hair before u curl it to make it last longer or curl nicer? sorry, but i just adore ur curls so much =)

aud: oo i like questions like this! i haven’t heard of babyliss, but i dont think its because of the brand, its probably just the curler? the only reasons i can think of as to why your curls aren’t turning out well are (a) u didn’t turn your curler up high enough / the heat ur curler produces just isnt enough (b) your hair is too healthy (c) u didn’t wrap ur hair tightly enough around the curler (?) i used to spray this product on my hair to preserve the curls but i didnt really like it. cos if i used to little no difference. if use too much then the curls become hard =.= so i don’t use anything now. besides, i think the product is only sold in japan, i havent seen it anywhere else.

my hair curls well cos its damaged haha. cos i dye it so often and use the curler every time i go out. btw if im in a humid place my hair straightens out after 5 minutes too haha so if ur in msia or singapore, tht could probably be why your curls dont last long. u can try using wax or hairspray to hold it though. good luck!

  • One thing I super-hate the most is filling up the ‘race’ section in any forms. What happened to bangsa malaysia.
