Intro to Manila

Hello!

Guess where I am!!

Okay la not hard to guess I am in Manila!

That’s why I haven’t blogged in days.  I didn’t bring my computer (too heavy) and Tim hogs his all the bloody time wtf and when he’s not using it I don’t like to use it either WTF because I hate friggin Mac computers!  No idea how to upload pictures from his computer to photobucket either so this is a photo-less post.

So Project 365 tergendala for a while ok! While I try to figure out this darn laptop / until I go home and can use my own computer wtf.

Anyway Manila is very interesting!

When Tim first asked me to come here I was a bit like errr… because all I know about Manila is that people get kidnapped here a lot -____-

But apparently it’s not very true anymore because the police have cracked down on crime a lot recently…

Things about Manila:

1) I think it looks like a mixture of Bangkok, KL, and Mexico

2) IS IT JUST ME or do the toilet bowls in shopping malls have no toilet seats WTF.  I went into one at SM Megamall and holy crap I had no idea how I was going to pee T_T  And I’ve been too used to Malaysian malls who actually have toilet paper in abundance now so I was stumped to see that there was no toilet paper in the bathroom!  Not even paper napkins  for when you wash hands.  Don’t ask me how I managed to pee that day ok I don’t wanna talk about it! wtf

3) There is still alot of poverty here:(( When we were walking around looking at historical sites, so many kids and old people came up to us and put out their hands for change T_____T And Carol was right too when she told me that people would walk around cars at traffic stops to beg or get them to buy stuff haih I felt so bad that I closed my eyes cos I didn’t know what to do (cowardly wtf) and fell asleep WTF seriously fuck myself wtf.

4) The city’s history is amazing!  We went to Intramuros (I think) which is the old city of Manila and it was simply awe-inspiring.  The Phillipine government were so smart to preserve and maintain so many of the historical buildings (which is more than I can say about Malaysia wtf) even though so many buildings got destroyed during WW2 and the Battle of Manila … the whole city still had a lot more culture and history compared to say… Malacca wtf.

5) Everyone here is super polite!  Even people on the street call out “Hello sir” or “Hello mam” to us!  (although sometimes I feel like saying eh can you please not call me mam it makes me feel about 40 yrs old wtf)

6) I think I have diarrhea wtf. Brbbbbb

=============================================

Okay I am back!

It’s after lunch now, Tim is going through some contracts and here I am, on this godforsaken Mac again.

Let me write a lot now since I still don’t know how to post pictures and I haven’t done boring detailed posts on what I’m doing at the moment for a looong time.

I’m itching to go shopping or or go for a manicure!  My nails are chipped and I heard that manicures here cost less than the average one in Malaysia.  But I am supposed to listen to something to errr give my thoughts on it so I can’t leave just yet AIH I think they give me a lot more credit than I deserve.  Because what I know is actually nothing wtf.

Okay so more about Manila! The Phillipines is the first SEA country I’ve been to (Singapore & Thailand not counted because EVERYONE goes to Singapore & Thailand)

Manila is… very Southeast Asian. I dunno how to describe it. There are people walking along the highways (ALONG ok not beside them on the sidewalks) and there are um underprivileged people going up to cars stuck at jams to try to sell them things like feather dusters and tupperware.

But then there’s also all these huge shopping malls filled with Banana Republic and Ferragamo. So I guess there’s still a huge disparity of wealth.

OK LA TIME TO GO BRB AGAIN

We’re in Taguig City right now which is a very new, spacious well-developed area of

  • err i hope nobody would be offended by this but most Japanese are very negative about Philippines, apparently most of the yakuza flee there for all sorts of business like practise shooting (-.- 😉 U’ll see lotsa non-salaryman-looking Japanese over there.

I was quite okay with it (before I was warned) I even went out alone at night why am I so brave. Then again, m’sia isnt that safe either haha immuned -.-
