Did I mention..

IMG_0666

..that I’m going to Seoul next week?

Might as well start dressing like a Wonder Girl now wtf.

(actually no, the above outfit is still all from minimaos which has nihonpoi tendencies. ย Blazer from here and white blouse from here)

A little apprehensive cos I think this is actually the first time I’m going to a country where I don’t speak the language. ย Ok fine except maybe Hong Kong. ย And Thailand.

What should I know before I go! ย Do Koreans speak English? Japanese? And most importantly, how’s the shopping?

  • hi aud ๐Ÿ™‚

some koreans do speak japanese. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • U shud go DOngdaemun i tell u, the shopping in korea is 24 hours !!! like 711!!!

  • The shopping is simply impressive. Besides Japan and Hong Kong, Seoul is the best shopping city ever. Get eyelash extensions for only 30$ and hair extensions for about the same, try out Etude House, Tony Moly and on top of all: HOLIKA HOLIKA. Ask for it – most Koreans speak English – and you’ll be IMPRESSED.

Wanna see some Holika Holika stuff I got? I guess it’s perfect for you!

  • Koreans dont speak english and they have weak english skill you should learn a lil bit of korean before you go ๐Ÿ™‚

For shopping, Dong Dae Mun & Myung Dong are the best ๐Ÿ™‚

  • If you want more info you can visit Korea Tourism Organization Kuala Lumpur which located in Menara Hap Seng nearby Pavilion. They are giving out shopping vouchers ๐Ÿ™‚

or you can get info from their website http://www.visitkorea.com.my

  • Shopping is great but they don’t really speak much english
haha goodluck when you are shopping and buying food.
    ๐Ÿ™‚

  • ya they speak minimal english, and (outside of tourist spots like dongdaemun) they dont really have much patience for tourists or ppl who dont speak korean. go to myeongdong for cutesy shopping and insadong for flea markets! some malls are like open for 24 hours or at least past midnight but i forgot what they’re called

  • Koreans speak England like Africa. A lot of gestures is required. :S

  • came across this, just so happened to be relevant to your post today.

  • lol i like huai bin’s description.

aud, yune-une is there actually ๐Ÿ˜‰

  • Koreans can speak limited chinese & english. mind your gestures, they are very formal. food are *thumbs up* but it’s still up to your taste buds in the end. the fashion is very unique and there’s plenty to shop there. have fun :DD i’ve been there once and i’ve enjoyed the trip LOTS.

  • Aud: Enjoy yourself !!

    How much is this?
    (i-ge – Eol-ma-ye-yo)

    *i know u love shopping!!
Jus have a calculator with u all d time! wtf

  • Aud! I was in Korea earlier this year and I suffered from communication barrier. They don’t speak English and usually rely on sign languages. You should probably jot down some important terms in Korean for you to refer to. Also, shopping is good at Myeongdong. Lots of masks and beauty products at cheap prices! (Skin Food, Etude House, Nature Republic are PLENTY there!)

  • Koreans’ English is not very well
    =)
just learn how to get discount there laaa~
    =)
coz shopping at there is quite expensive
    =D

  • btw, I love ur blazer!!!
    u r minimaos’s ,odel rite?
    hmmmmmm
    saw ur pic in there
    =D

  • ooh Koreans English is appalling!! we, Malaysians are very fortunate we can speak fluent English amongst our many other languages and dialects! =)

  • belz: how many do you think!

    joey: i’m going there already!

    anna crystal: what’s holikaholika?

mon: oh god no time to learn!

    johnny: thanks!

    quaintly: where is myeongdong!

hb: africa a lot of gestures meh hahaha

    amber: ooh thanks!

jean: isit? what’s she doing there?

bunnies: har mind gestures? why someone else tell me to use gestures T_T

jessie t: how do you pronounce that? T_T

iamthewitch: good idea i think imma just write everything down T_T

crystal: the blazer is from minimaos ๐Ÿ˜›

goingkookies: oh god i’m going to be dumb there

  • myeongdong !! u can actually find some pretty cheap stuff there !!

    http://visitkorea.com.my/special-coupon-book-for-travellers-to-korea

  • i also want to know, me going korea on feb !!! cant wait for your post.. word of advice, shop for the skincare!!!!

  • their skin care is really cheap and u can find them almost everywhr!!!! skinfood can cost only half of what we have here…

Dongdaemun is quite pricey i felt but the flea market around Dongdaemun at night offers cheap n worth buying stuffs. or u can go to this place called “lady street” as well – i got 2 bags for only 10,000 won each!!! U can also try out the nite life near Hong-yik University, it’s quite happening as it’s packed with mostly students but becareful as there are guys standing around trying to pull gals into clubs or bars..shopping there is still good though.

  • I’m looking forward to your update tooo!!! I’m going to Korea (for the first time) next year in June. I heard you must really know how to ‘cut price’ :O
