Save the blue!

A few weeks ago, Cheesie and I were invited to a KOSÉ event at Midvalley.

I was quite excited because I’ve heard so many good things about KOSÉ, especially their Sekkisei range! I used to idolize KOSÉ hahaha and my first eyeliner was from KOSÉ just because the ambassador was NAMIE AMURO lolol.

I always wanted to try Sekkisei products but when I was still studying, I was too poor to afford it T_T Then after I started working I never got around to trying it.

And now I’m working with KOSÉ *big shiny eyes

The event is for the Save the Blue project.

It’s part of KOSÉ ‘s efforts to give back to the environment. Sekkisei is known for giving you beautiful snow white transulcent skin (which is why I always wanted to try it wtf) and is made of natural elements, so to give back to nature, the Save the Blue project is about protecting the world’s coral reef population.

And being a Japanese brand, they’re starting with the coral reefs in Okinawa!

I’ve always wanted to go to Okinawa! Tried packing myself into Cheesie’s suit case when she went but my elbow stuck out wtf.

Okinawa is known for its beaches, the ocean and coral reefs so it’s a good place to start. Especially because the coral reef population there is being reduced at a horrific pace of every ten minutes D:

The representative from Reef Check Malaysia speaking. His face is not normally dark grey hahahahah the dramatic mode on my camera somehow messed up his face color hahahaha.

He spoke about the importance of coral reefs (natural habitat for many sea creatures, important source of oxygen, and for making your diving trip spectacular ok very important) and efforts to conserve. For Malaysia, KOSÉ’s efforts will be directed to the corals in Pulau Tioman!

I papparazzi-ly sneaked a photo of Amy Mastura who is KOSÉ Malaysia’s ambassador.

KOSÉ next time pick me to be ambassador can or not!!! I also want to go to Okinawa and I promise I’d be the best ambassador ever. Lolol.

Amy Mastura speaking. Amy we have the same top! hahahaha.

There was a caricaturist so Cheesie and I got our caricatures done.

P1010748

This is mine! I think I didn’t get enough sleep and the fella drew me with eyebags hahahaha T_T

Seriously we look like Disney princesses hahaha. Actually I feel like Cheesie’s looks like I dunno Anastacia or the girl in Prince of Egypt (which I know is not Disney)

Got some lotion to try!!! My first Sekkisei product :D:D

With Save the Blue, a portion of sales of Sekkisei lotion is donated towards the coral cultivation activity. Every bottle of lotion purchased will expand the coral reef area by the base area of 1 Sekkisei bottle. Good start huh!

This is a video review of it. Focus on the product please lolol cos I look damn awkward *shifty eyed. And my editing skills are horrendous T_T

Living up to my expectations so far 😀

Also got SPF50+ sunblock. New product from Sekkisei *important

Untitled

Most facial sunblocks (especially from Japanese brands) tend to be watery/oily yet powdery. You know what I mean or not! This is no different but when I applied it, it absorbed very well with no sticky or dusty feeling left behind 😀 Perfect to put on before your foundation or powder 😀

  • I like your video!! 🙂

  • Oh and your hands… with the colorful nails

  • Personally, I don’t like what they are doing. They only vaguely say that a “portion” of their total sales will go to Save the Blue. That means even 2 cents will be considered a portion. It’s like the Lorax movie – only mention charity to look good while cause benefits little from publicity. If they really wanted to save the coral reef, why not 100% of the sales? Or even 50%? Their beauty products cost a lot but don’t cost that much to make so why can’t they afford to do the right thing for once instead of exploiting a cause for their own profits? If someone wants to truly save the coral reef, I recommend donating directly.

  • jessie: my video damn bad la hahahah

christine: well they said a portion but also specifically stated that it’s to go towards saving an area the size of a bottle so that’s not too vague. i guess as a business you can’t exactly reveal how much you’re spending and how much profit you’re making. and true, they could donate 100% of sales, but again as a business, whatever they do has to sustain the business itself. not just the cost of manufacturing, but the cost of logistics, labour, etc? personally, i feel if someone wanted to do something good, yes they could always donate directly, but look on the bright side, what they’re doing right now is creating a lot of awareness for the cause which is an awesome thing. but great feedback, i hope kose sees it and clarifies!
