Being Human

Humans are visual creatures.

So what can be more visual  than a photograph contest lol.

I’m a strong contender for worst photographer ever among the people I know and my photo skills consist of taking pictures of myself…

Like this wtf.

So I’ve never really paid much attention to photography…

Until our wedding then it became holy mama what sorcery are these people pulling to give us such beautiful pictures!?

One of my favorite pictures of us by Wayne.

So I’m paying a bit more attention to the inaugural Maybank’s Photography Awards.

The theme is “Being Human” and the competition will run from 3 September – 31 October 2012. All submissions received within this period will be shortlisted for final judging and public voting. One (1) winner will be selected for each category and two (2) for People’s Choice Award. Prizes to be won include:-

1 x Maybank Debit Card pre-loaded with RM 10,000
1 x Personalized Leica X2 Set
1 x Profoto D1 Studio Kit
1 X HP Designjet Z2100 24
1 x Maybank Debit Card pre-loaded with RM 5,000
2X RM 1,000

Six categories in total! Photographer of the Year, Street Phtography, Studio Photography, Landscape Photography, Press Photography (only open to members of the press), and People’s Choice where you can get people to vote for you to win.

Some of my favorite pictures so I can pretend act like art critic lol.

Can imagine Fat Her liking this too.  I like the juxtaposition of the sharp lines and color of the door and the little old man who looks a bit pensive.  Omg I didn’t even know I retained the word ‘juxtaposition’ in my vocab lolol.

That’s the artsy fartsy answer.  The truth is I just like the color of the door and I have a soft spot for senior citizens.

Again I like things with lots of color.

This picture just makes me happy cos I love it when I see groups of singing people.  And I like it cos while it’s edited to look a bit surreal, the people in the picture are so ordinary.  Like you can imagine someone you know in there.  I think it’s lovely.

I studied Asian history so obviously this picture speaks to me hahaha.

Credits to all photos to the respective photographers and Maybank Photography Awards!
