Origins

The best part of my job is getting to review new beauty products as it comes out I think. 😀

Untitled

Today’s product is the Origins GinZing moisturizer!

Origins invited me, Jane and Redmummy for a briefing to introduce us to their GinZing range.  There’s also a GinZing eye cream to match with the moisturizer actually.

Untitled

The first time I’d heard of Origins was when I was in the US walking around Macy’s wtf.  I never stopped to take a closer look but my impression was a very organic skincare brand.

I was right!  I didn’t know Origins before that because it was only a few years later that Origins hit Malaysian shores.  But it’s stayed true to its philosophy of organic, environmentally friendly products.  Apparently even their packaging is made from recycled material and most of them can be recycled again.

Untitled

The GinZing moisturizer contains three main ingredients – ginseng for energy (looks like I missed out the ginseng in this picture dang), chestnut seeds for smoothing and caffeine to restore radiance.

P1011046

We took a sniff and smelled fresh orange!  Turned out there’s also citrus oils in it – grapefruit oil for the smell and anti-irritancy benefits, spearmint oil for energy and lemon oil to dispel fatigue (ie wake you up wtf) and increase concentration.

Untitled

Caffeine is found to be a powerful anti-irritant so Origins extracted it and put it in a jar.  Anti-irritation means it will be soothing for your skin. ^^

Untitled

GinZing pyramid!  Love the citrus smell I kept sniffing it hahaha.

P1011045

So I ghot my very own jar of GinZing to take home and try.

It’s a gel moisturizer so it’s very light and cool!

Untitled

Goes on very smoothly.  It’s very lightweight so it’s suitable for humid Malaysian weather, yet moisturizing.

(so moisturizing that when I accidentally spilt some and wiped it on my leg to not waste it, my leg is still very soft after a whole day!  Usually my leg skin damn dry and flaky one hahaha)

Smooth and easy to apply too so it’s good for those people who go out late nights clubbing then stumble in to class/opis next morning wtf.  Since the ingredients in it are meant to revive tired skin (and people), it should be good for those people too and those with crazy hectic lives and for only RM100 it’s such an affordable addiction! ^^

Untitled

New addiction!  Kinda regret never giving Origins a try until now haha.

And guess what I’m giving away GinZing Energy-boosting moisturizer to 5 readers!

All you have to do is reply in the comments (with your email address) and answer this question:

GinZing is actually very affordable for a premium skincare product, so what are your affordable addictions?  (basically beauty/skin products, whether purchased or home remedies, that you cannot live without)

I’ll pick the most interesting 5 and each one will win a jar of GinZing moisturizer each!  (Winners must be in Malaysia ah if not how to pass you the thing wtf)

  • my affordable addition? fourfeetnine.com lar ofcoz since browsing it is FOC lolol ok just kidding.nnit’s white fungus + water + green bean powder! basically just boil the white fungus with water for a while then remove the white fungus and you will get water enriched with lots of collagen!!! Keep it aside to cool down. After that add in green bean powder to the water and dang! You get a super easy-to-make and affordable whitening + moisturizing + collagen mask! I tried applying weekly and my skin was brightened and lightened! TRIED AND TESTED WITH PROVEN RESULT! nnBut unfortunately skin conditions vary so it may not work for you la. Try at your own risk ok lolol.

  • My affordable addiction must be yogurt+honey+oatmeal DIY mask! Love it so much and smells delicious too! Soft and supple skin after using it 🙂

  • It’s tea leaves + honey + rice flour exfoliating mask! This remedy was inspired by bubzbeauty. Whenever I drink green tea, I will reuse the teabag by pouring out the tea leaves and mix with a spoonful of honey and some rice flour. Mix well and you will get a creamy mask, like those you will find in drug stores. Apply on your face and scrub scrub scrub. Don’t worry the texture of the mask is very gentle. This DIY remedy is VERY affordable, and it also reuses the teabag which is no longer needed! It helps exfoliates dead skin cells, hydrates your skin and can help lighten acne scars! I found this remedy very useful as I have tried it on myself. You skin will feel smoother after just one application! All the ingredients can be found at home! So easy and convenient to use so it has been my addiction recently which I can’t live without!

  • Organic extra virgin coconut oil – it’s a multipurpose product I can use from head to toe and I’m so addicted to it!

  • My affordable addiction is…Evening Primrose Oil! Seriously! Facial products play a role in maintaining good skin but so does supplements. Aside from regulating menstrual cycles, it also regulates le hormones and thus, results in good skin from within! Not good with Sciency stuff but that’s how it works from my perspective heh. Plus, Watson’s or Guardian always have those 3 bottles packaged together for RM 100 over and those can be a 1/2 or 1 year’s supply! It may not be a skincare product but it definitely should be considered a beauty product 😀

  • Hello Audrey, firstly CONGRATULATIONS to you and Tim on Fighter!! :DnnMy affordable addictions are:n1. Concealer – Nobody’s perfect wtf. So I need this to cover up my dark eye circles and pimple spots!n2. Eyelash curler and Mascara – To make my eyes more awake and alluring ;)n3. Petroleum jelly (Vaseline) – My lips are always dry. So I always carry this around to make sure my lips doesn’t crack. Plus it makes my lips look like they have nude lip gloss on, and it’s cheap too! :Dn4. Sunblock – Must have this if you live in Malaysia! n5. Gel moisturiser – My skin is combination type and prone to acne. 🙁 I found that using gel type moisturiser rather than cream is better for my skin and my breakouts frequency is reduced. 🙂

  • I find myself drinking lemon water daily for health and beauty reason. Not only it improves my skin complexion, it helps keep my pimples at bay. Yay for me. nSuper love the oatmeal powder and honey mask mixture as it makes my face super smooth after applying.nNever leave my home without sunblock. UV definetely damages your skin if exposed to sun for longer period. I used it even at night. Something I can not live without.

  • My affordable addiction is the combination of honey+lemon! Other than making it into healthy drinks, it can also be applied externally with antibacterial effect of honey and whitening effect of lemon! Good for acne prone skin like me ;)nnemail: molecules_fong@hotmail.com

  • My affordable addiction is definitely the Aloe Vera Soothing Gel from Nature Republic! It’s a brand from Korea and I bet a lot of people knows the benefits of aloe vera itself. I even brought it with me when I went for National Service to soothe my irritated skin from the sun LOLOLOL. And the soothing gel cost about RM50 only and can can be used on your face, hands and even legs to get a smoother effect. nnEmail: huiying.smile@live.comnWebsite: http://www.celyx.blogspot.com

  • mine is Sasatinnie Facial Cleansing Brush! Ok lae mine is not the ori one, I bought a similar one from Bloop at RM10! I use it daily and it makes my skin smoother and lessen the whiteheads! (Not so for blackheads though T_T but it’s still my No.1 affordable beauty product!)

  • My affordable addition would be my St, Ives Apricot Scrub. It is perfect for exfoliating my skin and getting rid of blackheads. A little goes a long way for this scrub as a tube can lasts me for a whole year. Cheap and effective, perfect combo.nnwebsite: http://suzistarlicious.blogspot.com/nEmail: suzstar89@gmail.com

  • My most affordable addiction is ensure everyday drink at least 8 glass of water.. Isn’t this most affordable and yet good for skin? MIght sound cheapskate on my skin but it does works after i consistently monitor it for 6 months 🙂

  • My affordable addiction is extra Virgin olive oil, sugar and organic honey!nnOlive oil is extremely good for dry hair ends among other things. I usually mix it with my conditioner and apply it on for 15min and wash it after. It will ALWAYS leave the hair smooth, supple and best of all non frizzy! It’s definitely non oily after u wash it and doesn’t smell at all. Don’t worry ! I usually use half a tablespoon of it. nnAs for olive oil honey and sugar, I mix th up well, put in the fridge to set for 15min then I use it as a scrub especially for the lips, elbows and knees. Smells fantastic too. I prefer to use more olive oil than honey (2:1) else the scrub ll be more sticky. nnEnjoy!

  • Enjoy your Paris trip, Audrey! (almost typed Shorty after navigating from Timothy’s site haha sorry!) Can’t wait to see those pictures 🙂 <3

  • My affordable addiction? Baby Oil!nnIt’s great as a body moisturizer after bath when skin is still damp (because I’m too lazy to put on lotion wtf) and as a makeup remover! Saves me a lot of money from buying expensive branded removers and moisturizers but works just as fine. Been using it since I was in secondary, works like a charm!

  • My affordable addiction for beauty? Good beauty sleep! Hey, they dont put the word beauty in it for nothing 🙂 besides, its free! Other than beauty sleep, playing with my puppy helps me to destress, that is why i always look forward for long lunch break so that i can go home to play with her awhile before the next class in the afternoon…. how about a paid affordable addiction? I love to take a cup of honey juice everyday to detox and give me some extra boost to study at night after a tired day of classes…. 🙂

  • Definitely Bio Oil! I scar super easily, one mosquito bite and tadah, scar . T_T and Bio Oil has been very effective (albeit slow but it works so I don’t mind!) in reducing my scars, I think a lot of them have faded into nothing but I have new ones 🙁 so it’s tragic. Plus because of Bio Oil I became much less self-conscious about my scars, and now I don’t even really care what people think anymore! But I still don’t like scars, so I keep using it! Daily! nnfionachan.jf at gmail dot com! thanks!

  • I started doing the egg white and cotton pad thing after I read about it from you hahaha! That’s considered home remedy right :p other than that I use Vaseline moisturizer (I also have flaky dry skin T_T)

  • Sheet masks! But the trick is to pop it in the fridge a few minutes before putting it on your face. This really refreshes the skin, shrinks pores, and soothes redness!

I try so hard not to use it too often because I want to accumulate all the yucky dirt and peel it off at one shot. Everytime after I use the nose pack I ran to my mum to show her and she would run away from me cause it’s disgusting hahahaha! It’s like a huge accomplishment :)nnEnjoy your babymoon!

  • My affordable addiction is buying Korean socks and getting free skincare sachets on eBay! I’ve got cleansers, moisturisers and some other stuff (it’s in Korean, so unidentified skincare product). Unfortunately, I’ve already got all the socks (in 14 colours) I need. XD

  • My affordable addiction is Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser!nI used to spend an enormous amount for cleansers, because I have very dry skin that felt so parched immediately after wash that I need to slap moisturizers immediately after I step out of the bathroom! Going through a broke phase one time, and my high-end cleanser ran out, I went to Watson’s and bought the smallest bottle of Cetaphil. Lo and behold, it was mild, gentle and soothingly moisturizing that I don’t feel as if my whole face is cracking! I am now storing this cleanser by the bulk.nnP/S: I do hope you chose me as one of the recipients Audrey! There is another natural remedy taught by my mother. I always apply fresh aloevera on my body every night before i go to bed.
