Saw this video on the Friso Gold FB page. There have been a couple of touching but heart wrenching videos about kids going around Facebook and… I’m quite pantang about things like this during pregnancy so I didn’t watch hahaha. But don’t worry this video is a short and sweet one.
A couple of thoughts flitted through my head…
1. GOD I REALLY WANT A LITTLE CHUBBY GIRL :)))))
2. What has my child discovered today?
Actually Fat Her just brought this topic up recently.
We were at Fatty’s favorite bak kut teh place in Klang for lunch, and this time we brought Fighter along with us. It was his first time actually cos the restaurant is the open, coffee shop kind. I.e. no aircon, open air, a lot of noise and people and general havoc. We were always paranoid before that Fighter would get hot (IKR), catch a bug or get hot water spilled on him but Fat Her approvingly said, “last time when you were small I used to take you to all sorts of places to expose you to different experiences.”
Then only I realized! Actually we weren’t even thinking of that – we brought him to the bak kut teh place cos I was really craving it (-_-) and we wanted to let Fighter spend time with his grandpa hahaha.
That’s exactly what I’ve been trying to do though – to show him new things and experiences so he learns. That’s why I signed him up for baby classes at Julia Gabriel.
I felt he could be exposed to more different experiences than we could provide at home.
(here he is playing with water soluble paint for the first time hehehe.)
As urban parents I think we’re too worried about our kids’ health and safety. I read an article about how rural kids actually have less allergies compared to city kids, and one theory is because they’re exposed to more bacteria earlier and thus develop resistance.
Which is why it’s I believe it’s even more important to let kids get out there and gain new experiences.
Last week, I let Fighter play in the sandbox for the first time. He touched and rubbed the sand but when I let him sit in it, he started wailing. T_T Heard from the school that other kids also like that, cos they’re all so used to clean, smooth surfaces so sand is a big shock to them. Mind boggling right!! That sand is a big shock???
So! Let them get dirty it’s ok! Bring them to hawker stalls also ok. Let them play with mud and grass. Bring them for trips to new places (and it doesn’t need to expensive or overseas). Resist the urge to scrub their hands with sanitizer every 5 minutes lol. Let them learn and be kids and have fun. 😀
You can see Friso’s FB page for more ideas and info. They have lots!
