Of childhood body soaps

The other day I had an event to attend.

Say hi to my date!

We were at a baby skincare workshop called “Are You Caring for His Skin The Right Way?” by Johnson’s Baby.

Our pose same as the mommy and baby on the stage backdrop or not? 😀

When we had Fighter I automatically went and bought Johnson’s Baby skin products for him.  I didn’t even think much about it but I think it’s probably because *I* and Ooib used it as children and that’s always the brand I associate with early childhood.

Love sniffing Fighter after his bath too!  Cos he smells absolutely delicious and the smell is so nostalgic!!! It brings me back to memories of my own bathtub (which was blue cos my parents thought I was a boy wtf), and my grandma washing my hair (which I hated.  Don’t blame Fighter for grumbling during shampoo haha).

Besides the Total Body Wash, we also use the Wipes and the Talcum Powder.

Fighter stocking up on more wipes hahaha.

There was even a kids’ corner for them to play and do sand art….

While the adults listened to the Doktor Budak talk on baby skin going on behind me.

(Fighter doesn’t look that interested.  For your own good ok Fighter!)

Okay now he’s paying attention! ^^

Doktor Budak is a Malaysian volunteer-based online collaboration among children’s health specialists to answer questions on children’s health, and Johnson’s Baby worked with them to organise an interactive workshop to share practical tips and expert advice with moms on how to care for baby’s delicate skin during the Urban Mom 2014 road-show.

Learned a lot of trivia and tips!

For example, did you know that baby’s skin is 30% thinner than adult’s? No wonder its so soft and smooth… *strokes Fighter’s arm *wipes saliva

It also loses moisture way more quickly than adults’ during their first 12 months of life.

Which is why it’s so important we use the right baby-specific skincare and not random harsh soaps that may be unsuitable for baby skin.

Here’s Fighter’s routine!  He takes a morning bath every morning.  I use the Johnson’s Baby Top to Toe wash because easier hahaha. I used that as a baby too, nothing wrong with it ma.

After that, I pat him dry and apply baby lotion.  I use a special lotion which helps with eczema cos Fighter sometimes gets heat rash on his neck. 🙁  I blame it on him having a short neck wtf

Then rest of the body is normal baby lotion.  I started this routine cos I moisturize myself ma after my shower so I just applied it to Fighter.  But Doktor Budak confirmed it’s the right thing to do. ^^

At night he doesn’t bathe but I wipe him down with a warm wet cloth.  Then I apply Johnson’s baby powder to his neck so he won’t get itchy in his sleep.

Johnson’s Baby products are developed are clinically tested to be safe, mild and effective, ensuring that every product meets their “Best for Baby™ Standards:

safe – All ingredients are safe and supported by scientific evidence, tested with rigorous standards that meet or exceed accepted levels for safety, including the packaging and even the inks used for printing.

mild – Johnson’s Baby performs repeated tests of cleansing products, with the help of independent experts, to assess the product’s potential – from the cleansing agents to the fragrance and even its bubbles – to ensure products do not cause redness, stinging and irritation on baby’s skin, hair and eyes.

effective –  with proven benefits and efficacy to respect and care for baby’s unique skin needs.

I went Johnson’s Baby products mostly cos I think it’s tried and tested (from my own childhood).  It’s also effective, mild and most importantly safe.  I know there was some controversy about the ingredients in Johnson’s Baby containing formaldehyde.  Although scientific evidence showed it was actually safe, Johnson’s still listened to its consumers and removed it.  That was pretty responsible of them.:)
