Give you all a riddle.
What is…
and..
..put together?
It is Cardless Withdrawal (Cardless With Drawer wtf) haiyo like that also cannot guess tsk tsk. *shakes head
And what is this?
?
The answer is:
HAHAHAHA.
So fun la this way of writing! Should do it all the time like this.
Anyway today’s noble announcement is about Maybank’s Cardless Withdrawal!
It’s a new service that allows you to send cash to anyone using Maybank2u and Maybank2u mobile app and the recipient can withdraw the cash from any Maybank ATM without an ATM card.
How to use? Very simple nia.
To Send Cash
1. Log in to Maybank2u.
2. Click ‘Transfer’ then ‘Cardless Withdrawal’.
3. Enter Recipient’s mobile number and name (Minimum RM100)
4. Click ‘OK’ to confirm.
5. You’ll receive a Withdrawal Code via SMS. Forward it to your Recipient.
Transaction comes with a RM1 charge. (RM1 is waived off until 28 February 2014)
To Get Cash
1. At any Maybank ATM, press the Enter key
2. Select ‘Cardless Withdrawal’.
3. Key in the Transaction ID and Withdrawal Code given to you.
4. Retrieve your cash.
Here’s a video of how it works in case you’re a visual person.
So simple! And convenient!
And here’s how to activate your Maybank2u account if you’re not on Maybank2u yet.
I can think of lots of ways I can use this.
1. Go out forgot to bring wallet. Always happens to me. What to do when one has so many bags to change (and a brain the size of a pea wtf). And yes, can send to yourself!
2. Get bag snatched and need cash to take taxi go police station. Very possible.
3. Make payments when buying from blogshops. Most useful! Cos I somehow always end up different bank from other people. The recipient does NOT need to be a Maybank customer.
4. Pay landlord. Or Ah Long.
Recipient can withdraw from any of the 400+ Maybank ATMs nationwide.
***If you use Cardless Withdrawal from 7 January – 5 February 2014, you could win RM500! 3 winners selected a day yo.
What do this…
and this…
have in common?
They both had me as a customer yesterday. *waits for applause*
Shell is a no-brainer because obviously I need petrol to get me places.
And Parkson, well, I gotta say I became a fan after Fighter was born. Lol. A lot of baby stuff there!
Besides having me as a customer, there’s another thing they have in common, and that’s both stores are BonusLink Partner outlets!
I’ve been a BonusLink member for years, from when I first started working. Mummy Ooi signed me up so I could collect points whenever I shop. It’s been such an ingrained habit to take out my BonusLink card whenever I’m at their Partner outlets that I hardly even think about it.
But now there’s a campaign called 100 Million BonusLink Points going on! From now to 17 February 2014, just swipe your BonusLink card the next time you go to pump petrol (at Shell), you stand to win up to 1 mil BonusLink points. If you’re like me and go to Shell and then swipe at any other BonusLink partner outlet, the prizes double up.
But the key is, one of the outlets MUST be a Shell.
Which other outlets can you go to?
…and many more. See here for a full list.
Happy swiping!

Haven’t done a bimbo post for a while! Means all vapid vain photos only. So here’s one. You know, to counter all the auntieness going on in this blog.
Our last event for Foruchizu this season! The Blogger Personal Shopper event at Isetan KLCC.
Signs wtf.
Photo from one of our readers Elle. Thank you!
We talked about… fashion wtf. Hahaha. Tips for styling and coordinating, dos and don’ts. Also styled coordinates for the New Year and discussed them.
I was thinking quite fun if next time we could individually style readers! Like put them in outfits that they normally wouldn’t wear and show them how they look! Cos Cheesie was saying that a lot of people say they can’t pull off this and that but the truth is, you can if you open your mind to it. 🙂
Maybe next event.
Thank you everyone for coming!! So good to meet you guys. <3
Me and Cheesie! We’re both wearing full Foruchizu (except shoes)
Bitch doesn’t even look pregnant wtf.
Foruchizu launches new items every week at Isetan actually! These are the new spring and CNY stuff (less black and knit items).
Hello! Our accessories (headband on Cheesie, necklace on me) are Foruchizu too. Love the necklace so much I got one for myself hehe.
Another picture hehehe.
Then I changed clothes cos I actually got the mint striped outfit for CNY WTF. Cannot waste wearing it hahahaha.
Iz me! Same day.
After the event… Cheesie and I went grocery shopping. :X #auntiehood
Last time go 109 to shop, now go to Isetan supermarket section wtf.
Then met up with Sherlyn!
To go to Kate Spade. Very specifically to buy a bag I saw there which was on 50% off.
This clutch!!! It’s New York themed – the white polka dots are actually shaped like little white apples (Big Apple, not Steve Jobs) and the clasp is a yellow cab!
I was flipping through a magazine at 76style the other day and saw a picture of this clutch. Fell in love instantly and when I went to KLCC, I saw it on sale!!!!
It was a sign wtf.
Told Sherlyn about it and she ended up following me there and we bought the last two in the shop.
Oh and I’m wearing burgundy Audrey Hepburn dress from Twenty3!
With Fatty at our friend Edwin’s wedding!
The end of bimbo post.
My favorite fast food place in the world!

Your prizes will be making their way to you soon. Hope you like the Micro Essence!!!
Posted this on my Dayre the other day – an early Christmas present from Estee Lauder! Thank you Estee Lauder. I love trying out new products so I can find the best for myself. <3
On the right is the Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair serum. And the bottle on the left is a new product, the Estee Lauder Micro Essence Skin Activating Treatment Lotion, which is the focus of this blog post. 🙂
Complete with personalized note. I feel so loved hehehe.
When I met up with Estee Lauder, I asked them was this a toner? Serum? Essence? The answer is none of the above, it doesn’t fall into any of the usual product categories. While it can be considered a treatment lotion (a “watery” lotion that delivers skincare benefits and is usually the first step in a skincare regimen after cleansing), the best way to describe it is Essence-in-lotion, because it works like a serum/essence but in watery lotion form.
It’s like a high performance treatment lotion because it works like a serum/essence but in watery lotion form.
It helps strengthen skin’s foundation and reduce imperfections – revealing a youthful glow/radiance from within. And it’s called Micro Essence because it micro targets skin to reach where hydration is needed most, micro nourishes, and micro activates pro-youth skin function to “reset” the look of the skin immediately and long term.
I show you how to use! It should be the next step, after cleansing. Which means you use it in place of toner or other lotions.
(face is bare except for eyebrows. Because nobody wants to see me without eyebrows.)
You can either soak a cotton pad with Micro Essence or pour 5-6 drops into your hand straight. I usually pour into my hands because I find it wasteful to let cotton pad soak up all the goodness. The good stuff is for my face!!
Rub both hands together gently.
Starting from the chin, gently press into skin from the center out.
Move upwards to cheeks..
..and forehead.
Immediately skin felt quite refreshed! The lotion absorbed very quickly into my skin and immediately my skin felt supple but not sticky.
Micro Essence has serum-like properties but it’s not meant to replace serum in your skincare regime.
A serum like the Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair should follow.
Pour out a few drops..
Again do the same, by gently patting it on my face.
Then continue with your usual moisturizer and finish up.
How? Got look prettier younger or not? Hahahaha.
I’ve used this product for two weeks now. While there’s no sudden change like wah wake up next day my skin is as smooth as Fighter’s bottom (because that is magic which doesn’t exist in Muggle world wtf), I have noticed subtle differences.
For example, my skin can be quite patchy and uneven toned. I don’t use foundation so I normally use a lot of concealer to hide dark spots or red patches. I can’t tell specifically but now I can do without the concealer on my face – just dab under the eyes, apply sunblock and go. The biggest difference to me is how my skin feels when I touch it actually – supple and smooth.
Still wanna see more reviews?
Watch this transformation video on the Estee Lauder website here.
Micro Essence was developed specially for Asian skin and is only available in Asia! So if you go to Europe or the US, you won’t find this there.
It was tested out on Asian women and 96% saw a significant improvement in skin texture and clarity, 95% felt skin was more hydrated, and 91% felt skin was more even toned.
I am the 91%!
Here are the 9 characteristics Micro Essence improve on for a youthful glow.
You also want?
Okay!
I am giving away 3 bottles of Micro Essence (RM320 for 150 ml) to blog readers!
Leave a comment about what your skin issues are and how you think Micro Essence can improve your skin. Put down your email address in the comment form itself, not the email form. If I don’t see your email I can’t pick you. :X Good luck!
If you don’t win, you can also register for a product sample on the Estee Lauder website.
May we all have awesome skin!
(comments up to Saturday 18 Jan 11.59pm only will be considered)
Went for the Dove Intense Repair relaunch recently. Dove I’m all lovey dovey about you geddit geddit. Ahaha.
Dove is one of my favorite hair care brands! I wrote a post about them before years ago HERE.
So I scored an invite to their Intense Repair relaunch!
Super pretty deco!
Everything was so classy and elegant I kinda wished I’d worn a dress or a skirt or something. But don’t say hor actually my outfit was Dove colors – blue and white *smug smile
All the other guests starting to trickle in.
My biggest regret – not styling my hair before coming. It is a hair event okay I am so ashamed T_____T At the last minute Fighter wanted to nurse so I had to feed him. And then I had to pump. Then it was time to leave for the event haiyooo.
At least I washed it hahahaha.
My outfit pass for Dove or not? WHITE Foruchizu tshirt (from Isetan X Foruchizu) and BLUE denim studded shorts.
With Daphne whose hair is sooo nice despite the drastic bleaching and coloring. Again it was a hair event so I was on my toes very convinced that people will judge me for the damage I’ve put my hair through hahaha T____T
Part of the event was getting us to pose and have our photos taken. Then the Dove team would compile everything into a personalized calendar for us. The only thing better than personalized gifts… is gifts with my face on it. #selflove
Christmas themed props! I’m so fashionable I wear the candy cane like a handbag.
A bit awkward so me and Joyce decided to take pictures together.
Hahaha dunno what we were doing. Oh ya I was combing my hair with the big comb and Joyce was giving me the hairdryer treatment. Lol.
Then we received our photos and got to customize the calendar with our own touches – stickers and stencils and colored pens. I mad enthusiastic until I decorated every single page of my calendar hahaha.
Then it was time to learn more about our hair! The presenter brought us through all sortsa hair facts – what’s hair really made of etc.
And then got pop quiz! He asked “How many hairs does the average person have on their head?”
GUESS WHO WON THANK YOU NO APPLAUSE PLEASE.
Hehehe won a bottle of Intense Repair Overnight Treatment. Great timing cos my old bottle finished. ^^
The answer is 100,000 btw. Everyone looked very surprised that I answered the exact number and asked how I knew. What can I say, all my talents for remembering bits of trivia is now coming in handy hahaha.
There was also a team competition where we had like 0.2 seconds (ok exaggerating) to memorize this in the correct sequence and then rebuild it from memory.
AND WE WON WAHAHAHA. It was me, Joyce and Daphne so I guess we were Team Blogger? Maybe writing blogs makes you smarter.
We also discussed the causes of hair damage… *gulp* I do every single thing they mentioned to my hair. Except perming only.
But what to do… takkan we don’t go out in the sun? Or blow dry hair? Or style it or even comb it ever? No matter what you do, I think your hair WILL sustain some sort of damage. I don’t mean that we should purposely go ruin our hair, but the best thing to do right now is to repair the damage.
I am a Dove Girl! The Intense Repair range has actually been around for some time, but this is a new improved formula.
Most hair conditioners coat hair with an outer lubricant so the hair will be easily manageable and combed. The new Dove formula, patented Keratin Repair Actives, not only does that but the keratin also goes deep to the cellular level repairing hair at the core to bring back hair strength up to 10 times. And tadah soft silky hair. 🙂
The Dove team showed us an experiment – they washed one lock of human hair in Brand X shampoo, and then another lock with Dove Intense Repair.
Then they placed the hair onto a horizontally positioned brush, and put weights on the locks of hair to weigh them down to see which one would slip off the brush faster.
The Brand X hair got stuck on the brush while the Intense Repair one immediately slipped off and fell to the table.
So…it’s contest time!
Dove is searching for a new Dove Girl to represent the brand and be featured in their marketing activities!
All you have to do is show them a picture of your best hair flick. Like this…
No I mean like this…..
I’m sure you can do better wtf.
See their Facebook page on how to join and win RM10,000 cash!
It seems like just yesterday when I was a carefree girl of 28. Now I’m a 28 year old mother of 1, wife of 1 also and I have THINGS on my mind. Usually along the lines of KNN FORGOT TO BUY MILK. Or AIYA FORGOT TO BRING KEYS/WALLET/INSERT IMPORTANT THING.
Anyway. *clears throat. In all seriousness, I do feel I’ve changed (gradually since getting married, and more fasterly after having Fighter). So I compiled a list. Here are the top 7 things that tell me I’ve hit Auntiehood.
1. Favorite store is now Daiso
Actually I always used to like it cos I can always count on finding small cute Hello Kitty merchandise there. But now the passion is overwhelming wtf. Like WAH HERE GOT DAISO ALSO WHY NOBODY TELL ME SEE YOU LATER. And then spend 3 hours there and 3 figures there wtf.
Can literally inspect each and every aisle for every household appliance known to mankind.
(Before Daiso, there was 100 yen shop (which really did sell stuff for RM3). Mummy Ooi used to spend all her time there and I hated it. How times have changed.)
Also Ikea!!! Ikea is love. But Daiso is lover wtf.
2. Always looking out for discounts
Or cheaper prices and products in general. As a carefree woman, my shopping was limited to clothes and shoes and makeup. For such items I don’t really think about getting it cheaper because retail prices are all fixed. Especially if it’s a design I really like I’d be like BUY.
But since I started grocery and household shopping everything is different wtf. For food doesn’t matter what brand ma! As long as tastes good can already. And I have to shop every week ma, and it annoys me off if I have to buy things at atas supermarkets like Mercato and see the bill damn high.
Damn price conscious now. So I’ve learned to look at brands and compare prices instead of just taking the brand name I know. Omg damn auntie. So true to this topic wtf.
3. I nag with the best
OMG I think I must have absorbed this skill from Mummy Ooi via osmosis in my childhood. Then now only erupt out of my body when I mature wtf. I don’t nag at Fatty la cos he’s normally very on top of things anyway. But the other day the aircon man came to fix a problem which was supposed to be fixed previously already. And I found myself literally hounding his heels and going “fixed already ah? you sure ah? don’t make me call you again.” WTF so naggy I feel like punching myself.
4. 12am is way too late
Hello? It’s called the witching hour for a reason. Went out to Providence the other night for a friend’s birthday and wanted to die by 1am.
5. I love station wagons
Before I used to evaluate cars based on how small and cute they were. Personal favorites included the Nissan Micra (with the spoiler), Fiat 500 and of course the VW Beetle and Mini Cooper.
Now I evaluate based on whether baby seats can fit. Like the other day we were in Fatty’s dad’s car and I was going “Eh fatty. You might wanna consider getting this car next time. The seatbelt damn easy to put around the baby seat!!”
6. Electrician, aircon repair man are now on my speed dial
True story. Two conclusions: (1) I am an auntie (2) our household things are always breaking down wtf
And my meetings these days are with the curtain shop owner and the contractor.
7. The only person who flirt with me now is the Washing Machine repair guy.
ಠ_ಠ
To elaborate further, Washing Machine explained that he saw my picture on his Line and thought why got cute girl on his friend list so he messaged me.
I said he fixed my machine before and he said ohhh now I remember. Then I think he attempted to continue the conversation but I ignored him.
Then he sent me a picture of his penis WTFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF.
I remember this guy as being Chinese and the dude in the photo looked Bangla wtf. I suspect Penis Man stole the phone and hacked into his friend list.
*makes a mental note to tell Fatty’s PA Rina never to call this number for services again. Dunno what kind of service she’ll get wtf.
8. My favorite thing in the world currently is Tesco Online
This literally makes me smile every time I think of it.
That’s right beeches!!!! I never have to go grocery shopping again!!! Tesco started its online delivery service last year and I hastily googled for it.
Sadly it was only available in the PJ area and I resigned myself to grocery shopping, the bane of my existence. It’s not the shopping I mind, it’s the inconvenience of it for me. We live in the heart of KL so there are NO hypermarkets nearby, only a few luxury supermarkets (see point 2). In order to buy groceries, I either had to drive out of my way to get to Tesco, or go to an atas supermarket and buy expensive things, then lug bags through the mall to my car. Worst is when I need to buy rice wtf. Damn waste of time, money and energy.
Then a few months back I saw… a Tesco truck at our apartment!!!! What!!! They’re in our area and I dunno!?!?!? Signed up for it instantly and as they say, the rest (by the rest I mean physical grocery shopping) is history.
That’s all I can think of right now. What are your signs of auntiehood?
My nightmare came true. Fighter is sick.
(actually no la, it never even crossed my mind wtf I am overly optimistic that way.)
He started with a cough over the weekend. At first I didn’t think anything because he sometimes chokes on his own saliva wtf. But the cough persisted.
When he’s not coughing, he’s still uber cheerful though! What did we do to deserve this joy of a baby.
(Digression: I suddenly thought maybe it would have been apt if we named him a name that means joy since he’s so full of happiness. Googled ‘boys name meaning joy’ and got Abhayananda. Er how about no. Lolol.)
The next morning his cough was still there. And he started giving me these very pitiful looks accompanied by piteous whines while I packed his diaper bag to take him to the pediatrician.
Like this!
Gave him his sweater and socks to keep him warm.
But like I said, when he’s not coughing he forgets about it and cheers up as usual.
See his excited face hahaha he thought the nurse playing with him.
The doctor listened to his breathing and flipped him over so he could listen to his back also he giggle hahaha everything is a game to you huh Fighter!
Our doctor was damn amused hahaha.
Anyway it’s nothing serious. Thank Buddha. He had some mucus which was dripping into his throat causing it to tickle so the doctor gave me some decongestants and told me to watch out for a ‘fruity cough’, a sign that the cold is progressing to his chest.
We actually went back again today because I got worried this morning after hearing some wheeziness in his cough. Doctor said it’s still not too bad and gave us some anti inflammatory meds and Ventolin to prevent it from getting worse.
So that’s our first experience with Fighter falling sick! Cross fingers he gets better soon.
Not super sick la can still put him on tummy time #Asianmom
And he still can smile. Hehehe
Those eyes <3
However it doesn’t stop him from acting all manja and pitiful so we’ll give him more attention.
Mommy, the cough hurts my throat…
Will you give me a kiss and make it all better?
Mommy!! You’re not listening!!!
I hate that camera.
P/S: Imma try to remember and watermark the photos taken with my Sony Xperia Z1. Quality is awesome!
I’ve probably blogged about this before (if not here, then on my Dayre) but Fighter hasn’t always been the happiest child.
When he first got home, all he did was suck milk and snooze. Then he got a little more alert but he was always frowning and grumpy. I even started calling him Grumpy Pants because of all the attitude he was giving.
Eventually though we realized (with some help from our pediatrician – silly us!) that he was a little colicky. He almost always had snot up his nose blocking his airways so when he drank milk, he ended up sucking in a lot of air and getting himself a gassy tummy. So whenever he cried or grunted or whined, he was suffering from stomach pains and we had no idea. D: D:
So now that we knew, armed with a nasal spray prescribed by the doctor I’d go into battle with Fighter (geddit geddit) everyday and spray his nose every few hours. I should get a medal for this wtf not easy ok have to catch him by surprise and do it very quickly so he doesn’t turn his head away, but at the same time my aim needs to be damn accurate cos his nostrils are so small! Ninja Aud to the rescue wtf.
Right now I think Fighter still can’t recognize people, but when he can, no prizes for guessing who he’ll hate. The person who springs unpleasantly on him and shoots water into his nose. 🙁
Anyway, the nasal spray turned out to be not enough. He has a lot of snot, maybe he inherited sinus issues from me. I bought an aspirator but even that wouldn’t dislodge all the boogers.
So I did what we’re not supposed to do (according to Baby Center anyway). Every morning I charge at him with a Q-tip and dig his boogers out. It’s the best way to clear his passageways and I am DAMN GOOD at it. Got skills one. Wet one end of the Q-tip, swoop it at the sides of his nostrils, twist (to grab the boogers) and slide out. Then do the same with the dry end to wipe up any remaining wetness.
Obviously he shouts the house down but immediately after that he can breathe so well. I’m waiting for the day he makes the connection between this awful nose digging and breathing well so he can stop giving me a hard time wtf.
Anyway with all this consistent clearing of his nose, his tummy problems subsided and his mood flipped 180 degrees. He is now the smiliest baby I’ve ever seen!!! Not that I’ve seen that many babies la.
This was one of his first few smiles!
This is one of my favorite batches of photos of him! Smile until so sweet!!! *hearts in eyes*
And this one he just looks so happy. And fat and goofy. Hahahah.
I’m soooooo happy that he has such a happy disposition! He does have his crying moments of course, but generally he’s very smily and easy to take care of. Sometimes I wonder if this is my reward for going through preeclampsia hahaha. Like the Universe can’t possibly put me through another bout of shit with a cranky baby after all I’ve been through. If so, it’s worth it!
His default mood is good hahaha. I think he really takes after Fatty and me cos we both smile a lot, and I’m rarely in a bad mood.
I’m putting down a few memorable incidents so I can look back on this time.
Incident 1:
Fighter was awake, playing by himself in his cot. I crept up on him to look at him and at first he didn’t see me. But then he suddenly looked up, saw me and did a double take. Hahaha cos he didn’t expect me to be there. Then he gave me this big beautiful sunny smile like he was so happy to see me. Hehehe.
Also many times, he’s woken up by himself and I go to see him and he immediately gives me a huge smile. :)))
Incident 2:
The minute you look at him and smile at him, he’ll smile back. It’s like he can’t resist. Like he’s so socially adept that his reflex is to not be rude and smile back. Lol. Then if you keep smiling and talking to him, he’ll start laughing and kicking around.
The other day he was being cranky in the room so Fatty carried him outside to where Fatty’s sister and friend were sitting. He was pouting and acting grumpy but sister and friend started waving and cooing at him.
He where can resist like this!!! His pout actually started twitching HAHAHA. And you could see him struggling to resist the mouth turning up into a grin.
Fatty patted his cheek and said “aiya you want to smile right? Just smile la you know you want to…” And this Fighter really broke out into a grin. HAHAHAHA SO EASY ONE.
Incident 2a:
Same thing happened a few days later. He was grouching again while I was carrying him and I met Fatty’s brother on the stairs. Like I said, he’s normally happy so the brother was surprised to see him grouchy. He said, “eh today not good mood ah?”
But! Fatty’s brother was smiling at him. Fighter’s Achilles heel wtf. Again he broke out into a smile hahahaha.
Incident 3:
Yesterday Fighter was crazy grumpy. Kept crying and wanting to be picked up and cuddled; I suspect he’s going through his third leap.
He was so grumpy that he was determined to stay grumpy and bask in his own bad mood. Lol. How I know?
Because we were trying to make him smile. And he smiled at first, although just a small smile, not his usual big grin. Like he was trying to control it hahaha.
And then later he put his foot down. Learn from past mistakes already wtf. When we went in front of him and smiled and talked to him, he purposely wouldn’t look at us WTF. Don’t look at us smile, don’t need to smile back. HAHAHAHA LIKE THIS ALSO CAN.
He always always looks at people talking to him so it’s very obvious now he’s studiously avoiding our gaze. Hahahaha.
Incident 4:
Don’t know if this counts. But if you cannot take horror movies, read no further wtf.
I was pumping milk this morning so I placed Fighter on the bed in front of me. He started looking at the corner of the ceiling and smiling and laughing!!
This is the second time he’s done this while looking at that exact same spot in my room. I know babies like looking at lights or fans or whatever. Fighter himself loves lights; he’s always gazing upwards at lights and chandeliers so I’m used to it. But that area he was looking at is the corner of the ceiling where there is NOTHING. No decoration, no lights, just plain wall.
He never does this anywhere else. The first time he did it was at night and I was alone and I nearly shit my pants. I know it’s not mere fascination with a new object because when he’s fascinated he goes quiet and just looks interestedly at the object for a long time. This time, he’s behaving like when we talk and play with him…. he smiled and wiggled his body like what he does when he’s excited. Then he paused as though listening to someone. Then smile and giggle again. O_0
ARGH WHY I WRITE THIS NOW I’M ALONE AGAIN TONIGHT
To end this blogpost on a nonscary note, here’s a video Fatty took of me singing and playing with Fighter.
This is something I’d been feeling for some time. I’d been wanting to blog about it too but I didn’t have the time and I wasn’t sure how I wanted to put it into words. But today something happened and I thought I MUST write it down here, if only for closure’s sake.
I don’t consider myself a jealous person. It could be because Fatty gives me A LOT of security and I’ve never had any reason to doubt him (thanks Fats!) so I’ve never had to be the jealous girlfriend in our relationship. And I’ve never felt jealous or envious of friends when good things happen to them partly because I am super uncompetitive and partly because if they’re my friend the happiness I feel on their behalf usually overpowers any feelings of envy I might have.
So when Fighter came along, I was totally unprepared for this huge wave of possessiveness and jealousy that engulfed me.
I’m lucky enough to have had a confinement lady for 1.5 months, and that Fatty got us a maid who lives with us to assist in the caring of the baby. Both were/are awesome – the confinement auntie did everything I expected and other things I didn’t even expect of her, and our maid has been fantastic with Fighter; she genuinely seems to care about him and takes a lot of pleasure in taking care of him.
But instead of feeling grateful or relieved, everyday I struggled with this ugly jealousy. The confinement auntie has done this for 17 years and our maid has 5 kids of her own so they’re obviously a lot more experienced than I am in handling babies. In the early days when Fighter got home, if he cried I couldn’t get him to calm down, but the minute the auntie picked him up he quietened down instantly and went to sleep. I felt inadequate and useless, even though it was my confinement and she was helping me.
And when the auntie went home, my jealousy stemmed from the maid instead. Like I said, she really seemed to like Fighter plus in retrospect I think she’s just trying to do a good job, so she observed how the auntie took care of him, and when the auntie left, she just picked up and did EVERYTHING for him.
I’d wake up in the morning with bursting boobs and find that she’d already bathed and gave him his morning feed. And instead of being busy with baby, all I had to do was lock myself up in the room and pump milk. Maybe that sounds like heaven for some women, but it drove me crazy. I WANTED to do all these for him but a stranger was doing all this, and way better than I was!
In retrospect, all this was easily resolvable because it was just a matter of managing her; she’s under our employment after all. And it’s a good problem to have because she’s just being overzealous and passionate about her duties lol. Wouldn’t it be much worse if she hated Fighter and neglected him? I talked to Wendy about this and that’s what she told me, but I struggled to see this.
The green monster of jealousy really blinded me wtf. When she bathed baby, she robbed me of the experience. When she bottle fed him, she took away my bonding time with him and relegated me to being a cow wtf.
Eventually, as we both got used to things we worked out a schedule of sorts. I do all feeds when I’m at home and I fixed Fighter’s bath times so I could make sure to be around for them. I do the night feeds as well, except for one because I hate pumping milk and if I have to wake up in the middle of the night, I might as well feed Fighter myself than pump.
And to her credit, I think she sensed my insecurity and made sure to defer to me or get my approval before doing anything.
And yet the possessiveness persisted. Fighter started learning to smile, and he seemed to smile at everyone except me!!! Even worse, he always smiled when he saw her. I nearly went mad wtf.
I searched “how will my baby know who his mother is” and “what if baby loves nanny more” so much until I think it’s saved on my phone already wtf. (it’s a common topic in forums I guess a lot of mothers feel this way FOL) Results seemed inconclusive – articles said he will recognize mother’s voice from inside the womb. But then how!!! I also talk to my maid what maybe he hears her voice and thinks that’s his mom leh!!!
I let it slip to my dad that I was worrying about this and he assured me that children will always know who their parents are, and that they know by the voice, smell and heartbeat. My grandma raised Ooib when he was a baby and he was super attached to her, but at the end he still knows who his mother is. I wasn’t sure about the first part but the second convinced me – if my brother still doesn’t know our mom I’ll eat my hat wtf.
Nevertheless, the feelings of insecurity still nagged at me although I told myself to stay rational and did my best to banish these thoughts to the back of my head.
But then, in the past week or two, Fighter has been smiling more and more…. and best of all, the minute he sees me now, he breaks out in the most beautiful toothless grin you’ve ever seen. :))))))))))))
Ok la I think he just smiles when he sees any human because he’s just an attention whore like that. Lol. But I somehow think… he smiles the most when he sees me now. 🙂
And today while visiting my grandparents in Penang, Fighter got cranky and started wailing. My mom tried to soothe him but he was having none of it.
So I asked her to pass him to me. And when I held him, he snuggled against my chest and fell quiet right away.
He knows his momma!!!!!
My finest moment yet wtf.
I was bursting with pride but I was like act cool, act cool.
Maybe he just likes me holding him, I dunno. But it’s amazing to know that after all the craziness and slogging day by day, he knows me and maybe loves me as much as I love him. 🙂
